When a boy is only valued for what he produces.

POSSIBLE PSYCHOLOGICAL ORIGIN

This wound forms when love is conditional. Affection is tied to achievement. Praise is tied to performance. Attention is tied to results.

He is celebrated when he wins. Ignored when he struggles. Corrected when he fails. Love becomes something he earns.

He becomes driven. Competitive. Ambitious. But internally fragile.

His self-worth becomes tied to outcomes. Rest feels unproductive. Failure feels humiliating. Vulnerability feels dangerous.

HOW IT MAY APPEAR IN ADULT RELATIONSHIPS

For some adults, this can impress early on — confidence, ambition, competence. But intimacy eventually feels like pressure. If you challenge him, he feels attacked. If you succeed, he feels threatened. If admiration fades, insecurity surfaces.

Many women mistake performance for emotional security. But many men shaped by conditional love are not connecting. They are proving.

You cannot perform your way into emotional safety. And you cannot heal someone who believes love must constantly be earned. You deserve connection, not evaluation.

WHAT THIS DOES NOT EXCUSE

This explains behavior. It does not excuse harm.
